The group ILLIT is making waves in Japan with impressive achievements in both music streaming and album sales.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) on the 10th, ILLIT's first Japanese single 'Toki Yo Tomare' (original title 時よ止まれ) has surpassed 100,000 shipments as of January, earning a 'Gold' certification.
The RIAJ certifies albums based on cumulative shipments, with categories such as 'Gold' (100,000 copies), 'Platinum' (250,000 copies), and 'Double Platinum' (500,000 copies). ILLIT's debut in Japan has already secured them a Gold Disc certification, showcasing their growing popularity and influence in the region.
'Toki Yo Tomare' captures the sparkling moments of youth that one wishes would never end, featuring four trendy and addictive tracks unique to ILLIT. Released in September last year, the single quickly climbed to the top ranks of Oricon's 'Weekly Single Ranking' and Billboard Japan's 'Top Single Sales'. The title track and the song 'Topping' were featured as a theme song for a variety show and in commercials, respectively, gaining significant attention.
ILLIT's strong presence is also evident in the streaming sector. Their debut track 'Magnetic' received a 'Double Platinum' certification (over 200 million streams) from the RIAJ in just about 10 months, setting a record for the fastest achievement by a female group.
'Almond Chocolate', released last year, was the fastest foreign artist track to achieve 'Gold' certification (over 50 million streams) and won the 'Excellence Award' at the 67th Japan Record Awards. 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' also steadily increased its streaming numbers, earning a 'Gold' certification in August last year.
ILLIT is set to meet global fans with their first tour 'ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥︎'' across seven cities. The tour kicks off on March 14-15 at the Seoul Ticket Link Live Arena (formerly Handball Stadium) and will continue through Aichi, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hyogo, Tokyo, and conclude in Hong Kong.
