Actor Song Ji-ho portrays the emotional turmoil of a son devastated by a sudden death.

In episode 9 of the drama 'Beloved Thief,' Hong Min-jik, who had traveled to Namwon, meets a tragic end after being struck by an arrow while visiting King Lee Gyu (played by Ha Seok-jin). Hong Dae-il, carrying his father's lifeless body, urgently seeks out Hong Eun-jo (played by Nam Ji-hyun), saying, "Eun-jo, I've brought father. You're a medical woman, please check on him. He hasn't said a word the entire way. I must have done something wrong," evoking sympathy from viewers.

In the following scene, Hong Dae-il, in a state of shock, pleads, "Father, please get up. We need to go. We have a long journey ahead. Father, get up," showcasing a deep familial love hidden behind his usual carefree demeanor, adding emotional weight to the drama.

In episode 10, Hong Dae-il's courage shines as he represents his family's grief. Despite Hong Min-jik's death, Hong Dae-il, Hong Eun-jo, and her mother Chun-seom (played by Seo Young-hee) must silently mourn and comfort each other due to the treasonous implications of blaming the king.

In a tense scene, Lee Yeol (played by Moon Sang-min) is suspected by the royal court of being the source of the arrow that struck the king, but with the help of Lee Yeol and Im Jae-i, Eun-jo is cleared of suspicion. Hong Dae-il bravely exclaims, "This is too much! My father died from the king's arrow, and it's heartbreaking!" voicing his family's pain.

Song Ji-ho skillfully portrays Hong Dae-il's maturation through grief, adding depth to the drama with his unique interpretation. His portrayal of a character facing fear to protect his family, with sincerity and intensity, has been praised by viewers.
