New Romantic Comedy 'I'll Give You the Universe' Starring Bae In-hyuk and Roh Jeong-eui Set to Premiere
On the afternoon of the 27th, the production presentation for tvN's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'I'll Give You the Universe' was broadcast live online. Actors Bae In-hyuk, Roh Jeong-eui, Park Seo-ham, along with directors Lee Hyun-seok and Jung Yeo-jin, attended the event.
'I'll Give You the Universe' is a chaotic cohabitation romance about a man and a woman, who become entangled from their first meeting, suddenly having to raise their 20-month-old nephew 'Universe'. The story depicts how these two, who are neither quite strangers nor family, grow through the new 'Universe' that invades their world.
Bae In-hyuk plays the role of Seon Tae-hyung, a prickly yet warm-hearted assistant photographer. He shared about his on-screen romance with Roh Jeong-eui, "It was my first time working with a younger actress, so I was worried, but Jeong-eui has a lot of experience, so there was no sense of distance." He added, "Jeong-eui actually led and helped a lot, making the filming comfortable. Her easygoing nature created a cheerful atmosphere on set."
Roh Jeong-eui takes on the role of Woo Hyun-jin, a passionate job seeker full of positive energy. She praised Bae In-hyuk, saying, "I wondered if there was ever an actor I matched so well with; Bae In-hyuk seems to be the top partner." She continued, "Because it was so comfortable, our chemistry came out naturally. He is great at ad-libs, and following his lead made our chemistry even better. I trusted Bae In-hyuk and it worked out well."
Roh Jeong-eui explained her choice to join the drama, "I usually focus on the character, but this time I was drawn to the existence of 'Universe'. I thought the loving atmosphere an infant brings would be different." She added, "We know the love we give to a child, but we don't often see it from the child's perspective. I thought this drama might capture that aspect."
Park Seo-ham plays Park Yoon-sung, Woo Hyun-jin's first love, who is both visually appealing and capable. He shared, "I wanted to try a romantic comedy at least once, and when I read the script, I found it to be a beautiful story. The more I read, the more lovely it became, so I decided to participate."
Director Lee Hyun-seok commented, "The moment 'Universe' appeared, everyone's attention was on him. He was the endorphin of the set." He added, "There were many concerns initially, but In-hyuk, Jeong-eui, and Seo-ham took great care of him. I remember a day when 'Universe' cried because he didn't want to go home after filming."
Director Jung Yeo-jin shared casting insights, "Tae-hyung is a character whose personal space and world are important due to childhood pain, which could make him seem uncomfortable. Bae In-hyuk brought depth to the character with his delicate acting. He is an actor with unique capabilities and a wide range among actors in their 20s." She added, "He was the actor I relied on the most on set."
Jung Yeo-jin also praised Roh Jeong-eui, "She has a strong image of an MZ goddess, pure and mysterious, but in reality, she was surprisingly down-to-earth. Her strong sense of responsibility and professionalism on set was refreshing." She continued, "Roh Jeong-eui's personality blended into the character, expressing the anxiety and resilience that anyone in their 20s might feel. This work will allow viewers to feel her charm more deeply."
Regarding Park Seo-ham, Jung Yeo-jin said, "He was the actor who made everyone laugh the most on set. Just seeing him made you smile; he was the perfect first love character." She added, "Although the story centers around 'Universe', all the actors and staff approached it professionally, and it felt like we were growing together with the child."
Director Jung Yeo-jin concluded, "'I'll Give You the Universe' will approach young people, for whom dreams, love, and children seem unimaginable, as a fantasy and a kind story like an endangered love. I wanted to make it enjoyable so that viewers can feel, 'This is my story too,' and 'I can dream as well.'"
'I'll Give You the Universe' is set to premiere on February 4th at 10:40 PM.
