Park Bo-gum Takes on New Challenge as a Hairdresser in tvN's 'Bo-gum Magical'
Park Bo-gum is set to appear in a new tvN variety show following his previous appearances on JTBC's 'My Name is Gabriel' and KBS's 'Park Bo-gum's Cantabile', both of which recorded ratings in the 1% range. This time, he takes on the new challenge of being a hairdresser.

On the 29th, the production presentation for tvN's variety show 'Bo-gum Magical' was held online. The event was attended by Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi, Kwak Dong-yeon, and PD Son Soo-jung.

'Bo-gum Magical' is a program centered around Park Bo-gum, who holds a national barber license, and tells magical stories set in a rural village. Park Bo-gum is in charge of the main 'hair' duties, while Lee Sang-yi handles 'nail care and customer service', and Kwak Dong-yeon takes on 'cooking', providing strong support. They participated in everything from selecting the location to remodeling over the course of a year, showing their special affection for the program.

When asked about his strengths and charm, Park Bo-gum said, "My skills are budding, but my warm heart and sincerity are like a thousand-year-old tree. I tend to spend a bit more time with each customer." He added, "Most shops finish within an hour and a half per person, but I take about two hours per person. That's how much warmth and sincerity I put into it."

Regarding his co-star Lee Sang-yi, Park Bo-gum commented, "He became a companion for all the customers. Watching Sang-yi, I wanted to learn a lot." He continued, "I couldn't talk much with the customers because I was busy assisting with hair treatments, but Sang-yi took charge of the conversations, spreading the pollen of dialogue."

Park Bo-gum described Kwak Dong-yeon as "an all-rounder," saying, "He took care of the welcome food for the customers and even prepared meals. There were many times when I needed help during hair treatments, and Dong-yeon was always there to assist, handing me scissors, brushing hair, and even wetting a towel to wipe my hands."

He shared, "I studied for the license because I wanted to provide services not only to men but also to women. I learned techniques for styling women's hair." He added, "The most challenging part was handling the hair of elderly customers with perms. The hair was bent, making it difficult. If I cut it wrong, the smiling customers would end up crying, which was the hardest part."

Park Bo-gum stated, "Sang-yi and Dong-yeon were indispensable staff members," and added, "If I could send only one of them on a special vacation, it would be Dong-yeon." When asked why, he explained, "Dong-yeon provided so much help in every space. Everyone worked hard, but I received particularly great help from him." He continued, "We sold fish-shaped bread outdoors in -4 degrees Celsius weather, making and thawing the dough to prevent it from freezing. Everyone worked hard, but I want to send Dong-yeon, who was responsible for the meals, to a gourmet country to relax and enjoy. A maximum of one night and two days is possible," he said with a smile.

Lee Sang-yi said, "I didn't want to make the customers uncomfortable," and added, "Although it's a variety show, we actually operated the business, and during that time, I worked as a barber and chef, not an actor, so I tried to quickly understand the customers' needs."

Kwak Dong-yeon commented on Lee Sang-yi, saying, "The biggest strength in his customer service is his ability to comfortably interact with customers of all ages, from 5 to 95." Regarding his experience working with Park Bo-gum, he said, "His sincerity and attention to detail when dealing with customers made me want to meet him as a customer myself. I gained a lot of energy and learned from watching him." When asked about the challenges of working together, Kwak Dong-yeon joked, "The food gets cold. His determination to not miss a single strand of hair was truly representative of the head director."

Kwak Dong-yeon compared the program to 'freshly baked red bean fish-shaped bread'. He said, "When you eat it fresh, the inside is moist and warm, and the red bean paste spreads in your mouth, while the crispy outer part is felt as you chew. It has warm and sweet healing elements, but there are also fun scenes like the crispy edges. It seems like a harmonious program has been completed," he said with a smile.

'Bo-gum Magical' premieres on the 30th at 8:40 PM.
