Starship Entertainment has released a statement regarding the trademark application involving IVE's Jang Wonyoung.
On the 28th, Starship Entertainment officially stated, "We would like to clarify the facts and express our stance regarding the recent mentions of 'FOREVER CHERRY' related to our artist Jang Wonyoung."
The agency explained, "'FOREVER CHERRY' is a brand collaboration project and not Jang Wonyoung's personal business." They emphasized, "The trademark name deeply reflects the artist's unique identity and image. To prevent indiscriminate commercial exploitation and brand misuse by third parties after the project's conclusion, it was agreed with the brand to proceed with the application under Jang Wonyoung's name."
According to Starship, the broad scope of the application is a preemptive measure to protect the artist's image from misuse across various business sectors. Starship added, "This action is taken to fully preserve the unique value of the artist, prioritizing their rights. We will continue to make every effort to protect the rights of our artists."
On November 11th, it was revealed that a trademark for 'FOREVER CHERRY' was filed under Jang Wonyoung's name. According to the patent information search service KIPRIS, the trademark covers a wide range of products, including cosmetics, essential oils, and electric toothbrushes, totaling 30 items. This led to speculation that Jang Wonyoung might be launching a personal brand and entering the business world.
Meanwhile, IVE, the group Jang Wonyoung is part of, is set to release their second full-length album 'REVIVE+' on February 23rd.
