Actor Sung Dong-il Speaks Out on Film Industry Challenges at 'Bloody Flower' Press Conference


Actor Sung Dong-il shared his candid thoughts on the challenges facing the film industry.

On the 27th, a press conference for Disney+'s 'Bloody Flower' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. The event was attended by actors Sung Dong-il, Geum Sae-rok, Ryeoun, Shin Seung-hwan, Jung So-ri, and director Han Yoon-sun.

Disney+'s 'Bloody Flower' is a mystery thriller that revolves around a serial killer with the ability to cure all incurable diseases.

Ryeoun plays Lee Woo-gyeom, a serial killer with genius medical skills capable of saving the world. Sung Dong-il takes on the role of Park Han-jun, a lawyer who must defend the killer to save his sick daughter, while Geum Sae-rok portrays Cha I-yeon, a prosecutor determined to prove her worth through a death sentence.

During the event, Sung Dong-il expressed his views on the current state of the film industry. He mentioned, "I shared the same thoughts at the Seoul International Film Festival recently," and noted, "Overall, films, dramas, and visual media are facing tough times."

He continued, "With reduced production budgets, the industry is pressured by financial and time constraints. Despite these challenges, I sincerely thank all the film staff for doing their best in their respective roles." He added, "Although it's difficult now, I believe that if everyone holds their ground, a better environment will eventually come."

Sung Dong-il further stated, "Securing investments is tough, and we have to cut down on episodes, so I suggested we unite and approach it like a play. The idea was to memorize the entire script and give it our all to create something impressive."

'Bloody Flower' is set to premiere on Disney+ on February 4th.
