Comedian Heo Kyung-hwan recently shared his experience of overcoming a staggering $30 million debt.
On the October 31st episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' Heo appeared as a guest and opened up about his financial ordeal.
During the show, Heo revealed, "I started a chicken breast business in 2010, and it was doing well until I became a victim of fraud." He admitted, "I thought my business partner would handle everything since I was busy with my broadcasting career. I wasn't meticulous enough, and my partner had different intentions."
Heo continued, "When I received a call and went to the company, I found all the factory workers waiting for their payments. I rushed to the bank to withdraw whatever I could to pay them little by little. I assured them, 'I'm on TV, I'm not going to run away, and I'll settle the debts,' but that was just the beginning," he explained, recounting how he ended up shouldering the entire $30 million debt.
Yoo Jae-suk, the show's host, asked, "So, one of your partners took the money, and you were left to pay off the debt?" Heo humorously replied, "People often talk about being a 'puppet CEO.' I didn't want to be one, so I became the CEO, but now I recommend others to just be the puppet CEO."
Yoo Jae-suk added, "You've managed to pay off all your debts diligently. It seems like good things are happening because of how well you handled the situation."
