Kim Hong-pyo gained fame in 1996 with the drama 'Im Kkeok Jeong,' which achieved a peak viewership rating of 34%. He was nicknamed 'Brad Kim' for his resemblance to actor Brad Pitt.

On this day, Kim Hong-pyo recalled, "In 1997, at the age of 24, I was involved in a head-on collision. My nose was severely broken, and I had to undergo skin grafts for burns on my forehead and cheeks. My hip joint was dislocated." After the accident, he suffered from panic disorder and bipolar disorder, making it difficult to continue his acting career.

Previously, Kim Hong-pyo appeared on MBN's 'Special World' in 2022, where he shared, "In January 1997, just before the end of 'Im Kkeok Jeong,' I had a major car accident at the age of 24. I underwent numerous surgeries, including eight under general anesthesia." He added, "I eventually gave up acting and worked in landscaping, substitute driving, carpentry, painting, and interior design. I worked the longest in sign-making."

Born in 1974, Kim Hong-pyo debuted as an actor in 1995 through SBS's 5th open recruitment. He has appeared in dramas such as 'LA Arirang,' 'Im Kkeok Jeong,' 'Hong Gil-dong,' 'KAIST,' 'Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin,' 'The Great King Sejong,' and 'Temptation of Wife.'
