SHINee's Onew has addressed allegations linking him to the so-called 'Injection Aunt'.
On December 11, Onew's agency, GRIFFIN Entertainment, released an official statement to clarify the relationship between Onew and a person referred to as A.
According to GRIFFIN Entertainment, Onew first visited a clinic in Sinsa-dong, where A was employed, in April 2022 upon a friend's recommendation. The agency explained, "Considering the scale of the clinic at the time, it was difficult to be aware of the current online controversy regarding medical licenses."
The agency emphasized, "Onew's visit to the clinic was for skincare purposes, and the signed CD was merely a token of gratitude for the treatment."
They further expressed, "We deeply regret the indiscriminate spread of false stories regarding our artist. We hope no further speculation arises, and we will continue to do our utmost to protect our artist's honor and rights."
Previously, comedian Park Na-rae was embroiled in allegations of receiving illegal medical services from A, known as 'Injection Aunt'. A post on A's social media, which included a photo of a signed CD from Onew, sparked rumors involving SHINee members Key and Onew.
The CD featured a message from Onew, "Thank you for teaching me how to speak and being a stepping stone. It's embarrassing, but I'll hold back because my face will turn red. Thank you." A responded, "You worked hard on the album, and it turned out great. Just keep doing what you're doing," referring to Onew as a considerate younger brother. This post led to speculation about Onew's involvement with 'Injection Aunt', but the agency's statement has put the rumors to rest.
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment, Key's agency, has yet to release a statement on the matter.
