Cha Kang-yoon recently wrapped up his role as Kim Soo-gyeom in JTBC's weekend drama 'Kim Manager's Story', which concluded on the 30th of last month. In the series, he portrayed a young man striving for his future, vividly depicting the life of a realistic son and an ordinary 20-something.
In 'Kim Manager's Story', Cha's character Kim Soo-gyeom is a young man who grows up without want, thanks to the support of his father, Kim Nak-soo (played by Ryu Seung-ryong), a former corporate executive. Despite his privileged upbringing and attendance at a prestigious university, Soo-gyeom yearns to become something more. He dives into the startup world with passion and ambition, only to face unexpected scams and setbacks. These challenges become stepping stones as he ventures into his own business, finding solutions amidst crises.
Through the character of Kim Soo-gyeom, Cha Kang-yoon effectively portrays a multifaceted narrative of growth and father-son chemistry, capturing the diverse emotions of the younger generation with conviction. His portrayal of a character who matures through trial and error, yet remains earnest, offers a different kind of emotional impact compared to the story of the 50-something Kim Manager.
Meanwhile, Cha Kang-yoon is set to continue his busy schedule with a role in the upcoming TVING original series 'Proxy SAT', expected to premiere in 2026. 'Proxy SAT' is a thriller about a top student from a prestigious private high school, who is also a low-income special scholarship recipient, forced to take a proxy SAT for a blackmailer holding his weakness. In the series, Cha will play Kang Geon-tae, a low-income special scholarship student who maintains his top rank among wealthy peers.
