In the recent episodes of KBS 2TV's weekend mini-series 'Last Summer,' Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Song Ha-kyung (played by Choi Sung-eun) confirmed their feelings for each other and shared a kiss. The series, which premiered on the 1st, initially struggled with ratings in the 2% range but saw a decline to 1.6% in its 8th episode aired on the 23rd.
Do-ha and Ha-kyung have been childhood friends for 17 years. Do-ha is the only person who truly understands Ha-kyung's unique way of expressing herself, often saying the opposite of what she means. His ability to perceive the sincerity hidden in her blunt words highlights the deep bond they share.
However, their seemingly unbreakable friendship faced a turning point due to past events involving Baek Do-young (also played by Lee Jae-wook) and Ha-kyung's acceptance of Seo Soo-hyuk's (played by Kim Gun-woo) confession, leading to a new romantic relationship. Do-ha's childish jealousy upon hearing about their relationship added humor to the series. Despite trying to appear indifferent, his jealousy over Ha-kyung's every move added to the drama's entertainment.
Nevertheless, Do-ha's love remained unwavering. In the latest episode, he created a pivotal moment. Upon hearing that Do-ha was injured, Ha-kyung rushed to his side, and Do-ha couldn't hide his joy when he saw her concern. Ultimately, Do-ha broke the dam of his 17-year-long unrequited love with a surprise kiss.
The production team stated, "After 17 years, Do-ha and Ha-kyung have finally acknowledged their feelings for each other, and their romance will deepen. Look forward to how Ha-kyung will handle her relationship with Soo-hyuk and the growing pains and excitement Do-ha and Ha-kyung will experience as they transition from friends to lovers."
Episode 9 of 'Last Summer' will air on the 29th at 9:20 PM.
