tvN's 'Typhoon Family' sees Junho and Kim Min-ha successfully return to the Euljiro office. However, their relief is short-lived as an unexpected incident involving Lee Sang-jin heightens the tension. The series is set to conclude on the 30th.
The 14th episode, aired on the 23rd, achieved a nationwide and metropolitan household rating of 9.5%, peaking at 10.3%, securing the top spot across all channels, including terrestrial networks, during its time slot. The 2049 target demographic ratings also led with a nationwide average of 2.7% and a peak of 3%. (Based on Nielsen Korea's data for cable, IPTV, and satellite combined platforms)
The episode revisits the truth behind a promissory note from nine years ago. Pyo Sang-seon, desperate to save his company from bankruptcy, borrowed 40 million won from Typhoon Trading's CEO Kang Jin-young, offering 30% of his company's shares as collateral. This note later becomes Kang Tae-pung's last resort to save Typhoon Trading. When a fire set by Pyo Hyun-jun disrupts deliveries, Tae-pung proposes exchanging the note for 3 million surgical gloves purchased by Pyo Sang-seon. The deal is sealed with the condition that if the note isn't delivered by the agreed date, Tae-pung would step down as CEO. Tae-pung successfully completes the government procurement.
Despite narrowly escaping bankruptcy, Typhoon Trading faces another storm. Cha Seon-taek's past misconduct shocks the employees. She leaked delivery dates and warehouse locations to Pyo Hyun-jun, endangering Oh Mi-seon's life in the arson incident, shattering 26 years of trust. Overwhelmed by guilt, Seon-taek sells her house to repay Pyo Bak-ho and is ousted from her juice company. Her dire situation, with threats to her son, leaves a bitter taste.
Tae-pung's urgent task is to find the promissory note to retain his CEO position. He sneaks into the empty Euljiro office at night but finds nothing. Caught by a security guard, he ends up at the police station. Exhausted, Tae-pung is encouraged by Mi-seon to take a vacation. They enjoy a romantic getaway by the sea, taking a break from their relentless efforts to save the company.
Meanwhile, Pyo Hyun-jun's madness intensifies. His failed attempt to ruin Tae-pung with arson and the transfer of surgical gloves to Tae-pung shatters his pride. He confronts his father, Pyo Bak-ho, in a fit of rage, lamenting his desire for recognition. Pyo Bak-ho rebukes him as a "loser," leading Hyun-jun to assault his father and lock him in a container.
The due date for the payment promised to Pyo Bak-ho arrives. Although the promissory note remains elusive, Tae-pung believes the guarantee itself acknowledges its existence and attempts to negotiate directly. However, Pyo Bak-ho is unreachable, and Pyo Sang-seon's office is now occupied by Pyo Hyun-jun. Tae-pung leaves evidence of his visit on the agreed date.
Typhoon Trading regains its vitality. With the successful delivery of surgical gloves, they decide to return to their original Euljiro office. Tae-pung, Mi-seon, and colleagues celebrate their new beginning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and photos, reinforcing the company's "family-like" atmosphere by choosing to work in the same space as everyone else.
However, peace is short-lived. Song-jung bursts into the office in tears, clutching Tae-pung's hand, pleading, "My dad is dying. Please save him." His face is a mix of fear and despair. With only two episodes left, all eyes are on the final story of 'Typhoon Family.'
