Recently, at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul, the top three finalists of Coupang Play's 'Just Makeup'—Paris Goldhand(파리금손), Sontail(손테일), and Oh Dolce Vita(오 돌체비타)—shared behind-the-scenes stories from the intense survival competition. Their eyes sparkled as they discussed plans for the 300 million won prize and their future endeavors.
Coupang Play's variety show 'Just Makeup' is a grand makeup survival competition where makeup artists representing K-beauty from Korea and beyond compete fiercely with their unique styles.
Paris Goldhand, who won the competition, expressed surprise at her victory, saying, "I didn't expect to win. I joined because it seemed fun and gave my best in each round. I'm thrilled that my efforts led to winning."
Reflecting on the moment of victory, she recalled, "Nothing came to mind at that moment," and added with a smile, "Now, I feel incredibly happy."
Regarding the 300 million won prize, Paris Goldhand stated, "The economy is tough, so I might keep it saved for now. I think I should wait a bit longer." As she primarily works in Paris, she mentioned her plans to return there and come back to Korea if good opportunities arise.
She also expressed a newfound desire to promote herself more through the program. "I've thought a lot about branding myself," she said, adding, "Though I'm a makeup artist, I want to try other things, so I'm also doing YouTube."
Runner-up Sontail also felt relieved after the show ended. "I didn't expect to make it to the finals," he said, "I participated for the experience and saw it as an opportunity to grow and test myself."
Sontail focused more on the preparation process and personal growth as an artist rather than winning. "Instead of thinking about how to win, I focused on producing results I could be satisfied with," he explained. Reflecting on the finals, he said, "I have no regrets or disappointments about being the runner-up. I'm grateful. Those were meaningful days for me."
It was revealed earlier that Sontail's nephew is Eric from the group THE BOYZ, which became a hot topic. When asked if he communicated with Eric during the show, Sontail said, "He never used to contact me, but he did. Eric kept mentioning, 'My aunt does makeup,' which spread the word."
Sontail added, "THE BOYZ fans seemed to know. They requested a collaboration with Eric, so we recently filmed a video together. It was my first time doing makeup for my nephew. Eric's dad resembles me, and Eric has a mix of both, so there's a slight resemblance."
Another contestant, Oh Dolce Vita, shared her thoughts after the program ended. "I was the second runner-up. I joined without any expectations," she said, "I wanted to see where I stood. Working within an organization, I rarely had the chance to test my abilities externally, so I was happy to confirm them this time."
Oh Dolce Vita expressed excitement about confirming the depth of her skills, saying, "I vaguely felt my skill level, but this opportunity allowed me to confirm it, which was meaningful and exciting." She added, "Although I was the second runner-up, I never expected to be in the top three, which was also very enjoyable."
She also mentioned, "As an unknown artist, it was a situation where the results of my efforts were clearly visible, so I was very nervous. It was good to show that the skills I've built up didn't happen overnight but required high-level training and effort."
