On the 19th, an online press conference for tvN's 'I AM BOXER' was held, attended by Don Lee, Kim Jong-kook, Dex, director Lee Won-woong, and writer Kang Sook-kyung.
tvN's 'I AM BOXER' is a massive blockbuster boxing survival show designed by Don Lee, a world-renowned action star and boxing gym owner with 30 years of experience, to revive K-boxing. The ultimate winner will receive a prize of 300 million won, a championship belt, and a luxury SUV.
Don Lee, who plays the role of a master in 'I AM BOXER,' began boxing in middle school and is known to be deeply passionate about the sport as a boxing coach and promoter. On this day, Don Lee stated, "I started boxing in my teenage years and even prepared to become a professional. I continued boxing in Texas after moving to the United States."
He continued, "This is a stage I've dreamed of for a long time. I wanted to create a platform for boxers and boxing enthusiasts to engage in friendly competition. Seeing it come to life is incredibly moving and makes me very happy."
Don Lee further expressed, "There were many great champions in Korea in the past, but at some point, boxing's popularity declined. Nowadays, professional boxing matches are rarely watched. Boxing is such a significant part of my life that I feel indebted to it. I wanted to create more opportunities for boxers to showcase their talents."
Finally, Don Lee added, "I hope to see world champions emerge from our country. There are many talented athletes, but they lack platforms to compete. I wondered if there was a way I could provide opportunities, and then I met the director and writer."
tvN's 'I AM BOXER' is set to premiere on November 21st at 11 PM.
