Lee Dong-wook Returns in 'The Killer's Shopping Mall 2': A Sneak Peek at Disney+ APAC Originals

Lee Dong-wook shares his excitement about returning in 'The Killer's Shopping Mall 2'.

On the 13th, The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific (APAC) hosted the 'Disney+ Original Preview 2025' at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. This event offered a glimpse into upcoming APAC and global original content set to premiere on Disney+. The lineup included APAC originals from countries like Korea and Japan, as well as general entertainment, with top stars and creative partners in attendance.

Among the Korean content introduced at the event was 'The Killer's Shopping Mall 2', starring Lee Dong-wook and Kim Hye-jun. The series follows the story of Jeong Ji-an (played by Kim Hye-jun), who once again becomes the target of mysterious killers while protecting the dangerous legacy left by her uncle Jeong Jin-man (played by Lee Dong-wook).

Director Lee Kwon commented on the success of Season 1, saying, "I thought it would do well, but I didn't expect it to be this successful." Echoing the director's sentiment, Lee Dong-wook added, "I thought it would do well, but I didn't expect it to be this successful. I'm happy that it did so well that we could make a Season 2," bringing laughter to the audience.

Lee Dong-wook admitted, "I felt a bit more pressure. Season 1 received immense love, and I hope Season 2 receives equal or even more love." He also expressed concerns about the director writing and directing the series himself, saying, "Creating a new story is challenging, so I tried to support the director as much as possible." He humorously added, "Anyway, Ji-an has the most screen time, so I was a bit more relaxed."

In Season 1, Jeong Jin-man was presumed dead, but his survival was revealed at the end, surprising viewers. When asked if it was difficult to keep this secret, Lee Dong-wook said, "It wasn't difficult, but it was an important element of our drama, so I thought it was crucial to portray it well." He also teased, "When I returned in Season 1, viewers were happy, and in Season 2, the reasons behind it will be revealed."

The cast also discussed the changes in action scenes from Season 1. Kim Hye-jun stated, "In Season 1, we showcased beginner-level action based on Muay Thai, but in Season 2, after learning from Jin-man, we delve into full-fledged gun action." Lee Dong-wook humorously added, "I just did what I always do," bringing laughter. Kim Hye-jun elaborated, "But there was a lot more blood, sweat, and tears." Director Lee Kwon added, "Jin-man's action scenes have increased."
