Yoo Taeyang successfully completed his debut performance in the musical 'Rent'.
The musical 'Rent' opened on November 9 at the Coex Artium in Seoul, with Yoo Taeyang taking the stage as 'Roger' during the preview performance on November 12.
'Rent' is a modern adaptation of Puccini's opera 'La Bohème', depicting the intense lives of artists living in New York's East Village during the 1990s. Created by Jonathan Larson, who drew from his own experiences of the era's uncertainties and passions, 'Rent' has resonated with younger audiences since its Broadway debut, becoming a defining piece for the youth.
In the musical, Yoo Taeyang plays the role of 'Roger', a struggling composer yearning to create one meaningful song amidst despair. From his first appearance on stage with a guitar, Yoo Taeyang delivered a compelling performance, fully embodying the character. The musical's sung-through format, where dialogue is expressed through song, highlighted his strong vocal abilities and clear articulation.
Yoo Taeyang has previously showcased his versatility in various musicals, including 'Altar Boyz', 'Secretly Greatly: THE LAST', 'The Court of Humans', 'The Three Musketeers', 'Salieri', and 'Bloody Love'.
Meanwhile, 'Rent' will continue its run at the Coex Artium until February 22, 2026.
