Actress Moon So-ri revealed the global popularity of the drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', originally titled '폭싹 속았수다' in Jeju dialect, and shared her experiences of its international fanbase.
On the October 6th episode of tvN STORY's '각집부부', Moon So-ri was seen preparing a tour of the western part of Jeju for Choi Yoo-ra, who was staying at a five-star hotel to celebrate Liberation Day.
During the episode, Moon So-ri rented a convertible to drive Choi Yoo-ra around, sharing behind-the-scenes stories from her drama and film projects. Choi Yoo-ra brought up the globally popular drama '폭싹 속았수다'. Moon So-ri expressed her surprise at the title, saying, "I was surprised it went with the title '폭싹 속았수다'. We were worried people wouldn't understand it, but it turned out to be a good choice."
Moon So-ri shared her experiences of the drama's international popularity, explaining that the English title is 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'. She noted, "Foreign fans call it 'Tangerine'."
Moon So-ri recounted a recent trip to Kenya, where even the flight attendants were aware of the drama. "When I was heading to Dubai, the crew asked if I was an actress, and the duty-free staff at Dubai Airport also referred to it as 'Tangerine'," she said, expressing her amazement. She added that even in rural Mongolia, people recognized her, highlighting the drama's widespread appeal. Park Myung-soo jokingly suggested, "You might end up at Coachella."
Meanwhile, Moon So-ri showcased her bargaining skills at a vintage clothing store she visited with Choi Yoo-ra. After selecting her purchase, she humorously attempted to negotiate a discount by saying, "I know you think I hit it big with '폭싹 속았수다', but I haven't had a project in two years." She also mentioned Choi Yoo-ra's long journey from the eastern part of Jeju, ultimately securing a 10% discount.
Choi Yoo-ra praised Moon So-ri as the "Queen of Negotiation", adding, "It seems like both the director and you are very thrifty." Moon So-ri jokingly replied, "My husband isn't just thrifty; he's downright stingy," bringing laughter to the scene.
