The K-pop sensation TWICE has been awarded the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 2025 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
On October 23, TWICE was announced as the recipient of the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 16th Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards held at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul. This prestigious award ceremony, initiated in 2010, recognizes the contributions of artists and professionals in the popular culture and arts sector, aiming to express gratitude and boost pride among them.
Due to their ongoing overseas performances as part of their sixth world tour, <THIS IS FOR>, TWICE could not attend the ceremony in person. However, through their agency JYP Entertainment, they expressed their gratitude, stating, "We are truly thankful for this honorable award. It is even more meaningful to receive it alongside many who contribute to the development of popular culture. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our ONCE (fandom name) who always give us great strength."
Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, TWICE is marking a monumental year in their career. Their special 10th-anniversary album, 'TEN: The Story Goes On,' released on October 10, reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart on October 25. This achievement makes them the first K-pop girl group to have 10 albums enter this chart.
TWICE is also contributing to the global success of Netflix's 'KPop Demon Hunters' original soundtrack. Their tracks 'TAKEDOWN (JEONGYEON, JIHYO, CHAEYOUNG)' and 'Strategy' from their 14th mini-album have impressively remained on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 15 and 13 consecutive weeks, respectively.
Amidst overwhelming support from fans worldwide, TWICE is expanding their largest-ever world tour, '<THIS IS FOR>'.
