Kim Sang-young, the bassist of the band Teardrop, passed away in the early hours of the 21st at the age of 42.
Teardrop announced the sad news on their official social media, stating, "Our beloved bassist Kim Sang-young left us too soon this morning."
They continued, "He loved the band and music more than anyone else and was a friend full of passion. We cannot express the heavy and sorrowful hearts we have due to this sudden farewell."
Kim Sang-young had been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, and it was reported that his condition rapidly worsened recently, leading to his passing.
His memorial service is being held at Room 1 of the Special Funeral Hall at the Red Cross Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with the funeral scheduled for 10 a.m. on the 23rd. He will be laid to rest at the Seoul Municipal Crematorium.
In addition to his band activities, Kim Sang-young was also active in various fields, having served as the former editor-in-chief of the automotive YouTube channel 'Motorgraph.'
Meanwhile, Teardrop is a five-member band consisting of Go Hyuk-joo, Kim Ho-se, Jung Kyung-hoon, Kim Sang-young, and Kim Hyo-il. Since their debut in 2006, they have been actively performing at various festivals and stages.
