Noh Sang-sik (played by Park Ji-hwan), enraged by the fact that Jong-hee's foster mother Mi-sook (played by Seo Jae-hee) had instigated a murder, disguised himself as security and stormed the stage with a weapon. Young-rye, who had learned of Jong-hee's suppressed feelings the night before, expressed her heartfelt wish to return to those days and tell her precious friend, "I hope you don't become unhappy because of me, and I want to say I'm sorry and thank you." She was stabbed in Jong-hee's place.

Young-rye fell into a deep coma. Meanwhile, Jong-hee, tormented by guilt, left home after discovering Mi-sook's scheme, and Young-rye's mother (played by Lee Jung-eun) reached out to the lost Jong-hee. Han Jae-pil (played by Heo Nam-jun), who stayed by Young-rye's side with unwavering devotion, played the song 'Close to You,' filled with memories. Lost in her memories, Young-rye miraculously awoke upon hearing the song, and Jong-hee was the first to rush to her side.

A year later, thanks to the scholarship fund Jong-hee gave up, Young-rye fulfilled her long-held dream of entering the university's Korean literature department. At the wedding of Choi Jung-bun (played by Park Ye-ni) and Ma Sang-chul (played by Lee Won-jung), she received a proposal from Jae-pil. Go Young-sik (played by Jeon Sung-woo), who had been Jong-hee's supportive "big brother," held her hand during the commemorative photo, creating an exciting moment that hinted at a new youthful romance.

Young-rye, Jong-hee, and Jae-pil reminisced about the past while laughing freely at the beach in Incheon, just as they used to. Young-rye's narration reflected, "Our youth was weary and shabby, but it shone brilliantly because we had each other." She continued, "Though we will face more waves and storms in the time ahead, we will hurt, heal, laugh, and smile, but we are not afraid because we will always be together."
