Shin Ye-eun is making waves in the entertainment industry, consistently delivering hit performances. Known for her role as the villain 'Yeon-jin' in 'The Glory,' she continues to evolve by embracing diverse characters.
Recently, Shin Ye-eun has been in the spotlight for her role in the Disney+ original series 'The Murky Stream.' The series topped the Disney+ TV show category in Korea on FlixPatrol for six consecutive days from the 5th to the 10th. It also ranked third in the TV & OTT drama buzz chart on the content analysis platform Fundex, with Shin Ye-eun at its center.
'The Murky Stream' is Disney+'s first historical drama, set in the Joseon era, depicting the lives of those living by the Han River, a hub of wealth and resources. Shin Ye-eun plays Choi Eun, the youngest daughter of the largest merchant group, 'Choi's Merchant Group,' who dreams of inheriting and leading the family business.
The drama is set in a time when women's social activities were limited. Choi Eun is a determined character who defies these limitations to pursue her dreams. Shin Ye-eun brings depth to the character with her graceful appearance and strong gaze, portraying a resolute figure overcoming historical constraints.
In addition, Shin Ye-eun is contributing to the rising viewership of the JTBC drama 'A Hundred Memories.' The show started with a 3.3% viewership rating and rose to 7.5% by the 10th episode. 'A Hundred Memories' is a youth melodrama set in the 1980s, depicting the friendship and love between bus conductors Yeong-rae (played by Kim Da-mi) and Jong-hee (played by Shin Ye-eun). Shin Ye-eun plays Seo Jong-hee, a former bus conductor.
Early in the series, Shin Ye-eun creates a charming chemistry with Kim Da-mi, delighting viewers. She also portrays the delicate emotions of love and jealousy surrounding a man, drawing viewers into the story.
In the latter part of the series, Jong-hee disappears suddenly and reappears seven years later as the only daughter of a wealthy family. It is revealed that a conglomerate chairman, who lost his daughter, adopted Jong-hee. Despite her comfortable life as a rich daughter, Jong-hee is exhausted by her adoptive mother's obsessive love and the condition to sever ties with her past. Shin Ye-eun's portrayal of Jong-hee's suppressed emotions moved the audience.
Shin Ye-eun first gained attention with the Netflix series 'The Glory' (2022-2023), where she played the young version of the school bully Park Yeon-jin, showcasing a truly villainous side. She later received acclaim for her role as Heo Yeong-seo, a diligent singer in the drama 'Jeong-nyeoni,' which focuses on women's national drama. Heo Yeong-seo is a character who appears confident and proud but harbors insecurities and wounds. Shin Ye-eun fully immersed herself in the role, even practicing pansori for a year to bring authenticity to the character.
Shin Ye-eun has also made headlines outside of her work. Her attitude at the Busan International Film Festival last month drew attention. On the red carpet, she displayed a lively and cheerful demeanor, and when the live broadcast camera caught her, she playfully posed with a V-sign, hand heart, and wink, lifting the atmosphere. Thanks to Shin Ye-eun's 'aegyo battle,' the audience enjoyed the opening ceremony.
With her successful projects, solid acting skills, and charming attitude, Shin Ye-eun continues to impress. Her ability to transform into different characters in each project leaves audiences eagerly anticipating her next move.
