BLACKPINK's Rosé and 'Golden' Eye Grammy Nominations: A Historic Moment for K-pop?
BLACKPINK's Rosé is making waves with her hit song 'APT.' and the Netflix animation 'K-pop Demon Hunters' original soundtrack 'Golden'.

Several K-pop entries have been submitted for the 68th Grammy Awards, with a notable focus on female artists this year. Rosé's 'APT.' and 'Golden' are being closely watched to see if they can break the Grammy barrier that even global sensation BTS has yet to overcome.

According to the entertainment industry, the Recording Academy, which oversees the Grammys, will conduct the first round of voting until October 15th. 'APT.' and 'Golden' are vying for major categories such as 'Record of the Year' and 'Song of the Year'. Rosé's solo album 'rosie' and the K-pop Demon Hunters OST album are also in the running for 'Album of the Year'.

Additionally, Rosé is competing in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' and 'Best Music Video' categories with 'APT.', and 'Toxic Till The End' is up for 'Best Pop Solo Performance'. Her album 'rosie' is also nominated for 'Best Pop Vocal Album'.

The David Guetta remix of 'Golden' is submitted for 'Best Remixed Recording', and the song is also in contention for 'Best Song Written for Visual Media', 'Best Music Video', and 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance'. The OST album itself is a candidate for 'Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media'.

Since their release, 'APT.' and 'Golden' have topped major global music charts, with 'Golden' achieving significant success by holding the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 for an extended period. This has fueled hopes for K-pop's first Grammy win.

While BTS has been nominated for 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' for three consecutive years, they have yet to secure a win.

There is optimism about Rosé's chances with 'APT.' and 'Golden', but predicting the outcome is challenging due to the Grammy voters' preference for tradition and seriousness in the American music industry.

This year's Grammys highlight the prominence of female artists, with Rosé and other female musicians like Lee Jae, Ray Ami, and Audrey Nuna gaining attention. This trend is attributed to K-pop's expansion beyond its fanbase to a broader audience.

The first round of Grammy voting includes participation from BTS, BLACKPINK members, and numerous other K-pop artists.

In addition to Rosé and 'Golden', groups like BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, TWICE, aespa, Tomorrow X Together, and Cats Eye are also competing in major categories like 'Record of the Year', 'Album of the Year', and 'Song of the Year'. BLACKPINK members Jennie and Lisa, along with BTS's Jin and J-Hope, are part of this lineup.

The Grammy Awards, organized by the Recording Academy, are the most prestigious music awards in the United States, held annually since 1959. Notable Korean winners include soprano Sumi Jo in 1993 and sound engineer Hwang Byung-joon in 2012 and 2016.

The final nominees who pass the first round of voting will be announced on November 7th. The final voting will take place from December 12th to January 5th, with the 68th Grammy Awards ceremony scheduled for February 1st at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
