The six-member K-pop group Izna is making a comeback with a fresh new look, drawing attention as it marks their first activity since the departure of former member Yoon Ji-yoon.
Izna is set to release their second mini-album, 'Not Just Pretty,' on the 30th. This comeback follows the departure of Yoon Ji-yoon last month due to health reasons. Having halted activities just three months after debuting, Yoon Ji-yoon's exit left some fans concerned, especially since she was the main vocalist. However, the remaining members have stepped up their vocal game, having already performed without her, suggesting that this comeback will proceed smoothly.
For this album, Izna has chosen a bold and daring concept, breaking away from their previous style. Producer Teddy, known for creating hits for artists like Big Bang and 2NE1, contributed to the writing and composing of the title track, raising anticipation among music fans.
As they approach their first anniversary, Izna's decision to embrace change signifies their potential for growth. At the album release media showcase held at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul's Gwangjin District, member Bang Ji-min described the album as "opening a new chapter for Izna." Yoo Sa-rang added, "We wanted to challenge ourselves with various genres and show a limitless side of us."
The key question is how this new approach will be received. Izna has previously been known for their dreamy and sentimental music, so the promise of something unseen before may excite existing fans. The intense nature of the new tracks also allows for showcasing their performance skills more effectively. However, the drastic change might feel unfamiliar to fans who preferred their original sound. Balancing the retention of their current fanbase while attracting new listeners will be crucial to the success of this comeback.
Given the recent member changes, the outcome of this comeback is likely to influence Izna's future direction.
