Another group continues the legacy of Mnet's idol survival shows. Following in the footsteps of Wanna One in 2017, X1 in 2019, and ZEROBASEONE in 2023, the latest group is the 8-member ALPHA DRIVE ONE.
On the afternoon of the 25th, the final episode of Mnet's 'BOYS II PLANET' aired live, revealing the final rankings of the debut lineup. The debut group name was confirmed as ALPHA DRIVE ONE (ALD1), which the producers explained signifies the 'catharsis created by the K-pop race.'
The final rankings were as follows: 1st place Lee Sang-won (7,293,777 points), 2nd place Zhou An Xin (5,950,137 points), 3rd place He Xin Long (5,731,887 points), 4th place Kim Geon-woo (4,854,331 points), 5th place Zhang Jia Hao (4,238,175 points), 6th place Lee Leo (4,147,134 points), 7th place Chung Sang-hyeon (3,862,466 points), and 8th place Kim Jun-seo (3,856,677 points).
Unfortunately, the members who did not make the cut were 9th place Yoo Kang-min (3,548,388 points), 10th place Chuei Li Yu (3,284,175 points), 11th place Yumeki (2,749,632 points), 12th place Jun Lee-jeong (2,474,319 points), 13th place Kim Jun-min (2,424,154 points), 14th place Chen Kai Wen (2,111,260 points), 15th place Park Dong-gyu (1,862,464 points), and 16th place Kang Woo-jin (1,824,099 points).
The top spot was claimed by Lee Sang-won. On stage, he expressed, "Honestly, I thought An-shin would win. But today, I feel like I will cherish you all more than myself. Thanks to you, I am truly happy and grateful." He went on to thank his family, fans, and the production team, vowing, "I will become a proud member of ALPHA DRIVE ONE and remain the eternal number one, Lee Sang-won."
Lee Sang-won, a former Big Hit trainee, was once set to debut with the group Trainee A but had his dreams dashed. Encouraged by fellow trainee Lee Leo, he joined this program and ultimately rose to the top. Lee Rio also secured a spot in the debut lineup, finishing in 6th place.
In the first season of 'Boys Planet' two years ago, Sung Han-bin Seong consistently held the top spot, but in the final episode, Chinese national Zhang Hao overtook him, marking the first foreigner to win an idol survival show. This season, Lee Sang-won was in 2nd place during mid-voting, raising anticipation for a possible upset. However, he secured the final victory, becoming the Korean winner.
