Comedians Jo Hye-ryun and Lee Kyung-sil have opened up about the frequent requests they receive from individuals posing as fans, asking for money.
On October 23, the YouTube channel Rolling Thunder released an episode titled 'There’s Always a Reason for Being Cut Off [New Woman] EP.06 Cut Off.' In the video, Jo Hye-ryun and Lee Kyung-sil shared various stories.
Jo Hye-ryun revealed, "I receive several messages daily from people claiming to be fans, expressing how touched they are, only to end with a request to borrow money." She continued, "The amounts range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Initially, I helped a bit, but I realized it wasn't right." Lee Kyung-sil shared a similar experience, saying, "They ask to be saved just once. I also helped in the past. It seems some people are exploiting celebrities."
During the talk, which focused on 'Characteristics of People You Want to Cut Off,' Jo Hye-ryun advised, "It's best to avoid people who talk too easily about money. Also, those who borrow money and don't repay it on the agreed date should be cut off." When MC Lee Sun-min asked if they had any unpaid loans, both Jo and Lee confirmed they did.
Lee Kyung-sil emphasized the importance of give-and-take in relationships, stating, "It's important to cut off overly selfish people." She also shared advice on how to distance oneself, saying, "I used to think it was good to be clear with yes or no, but now I believe there's no need to explicitly say no. It's better to let things naturally drift apart," she concluded with a smile.
