K-Pop Star Kim Junsu Triumphs Over Japanese Singer Shinnosuke in '2025 Korea-Japan King of Singers'

In a thrilling one-on-one solo showdown, Kim Junsu and Shinnosuke took the stage.

On the evening of the 23rd at 9:50 PM, MBN aired the '2025 Korea-Japan King of Singers', featuring intense solo battles.

During the broadcast, Kim Junsu, 33, known for his 13-year mastery of Sugungga and his ambition to conquer the world with K-Sori, faced off against Shinnosuke. Kim Junsu is celebrated as a top-tier performer in the Korean traditional music scene.

Representing Japan, 22-year-old Kimoto Shinnosuke, son of legendary Saijo Hideki, was introduced as an aspiring singer eager to promote Showa-era songs. Jin Haesung praised Shinnosuke's appearance, noting a resemblance to someone familiar.

He performed Ryu Gye-young's 'Life', showcasing his exceptional vocal prowess. The song is a hit that reflects on life's regrets and hardships.

Next, Shinnosuke, determined to win after two losses to the Korean team, chose Nakayama Miho & WANDS' 'More Than Anyone in the World'. This track, which sold 1 million copies in 20 days and 2 million in total, was famously remade in Korea by The Nuts as 'Fool of Love'.

After the performances, voting took place. The battle was between Kim Junsu's mature and seasoned presence and Shinnosuke's youthful charm. Before the results were announced, Kangnam commented to Shinnosuke, "I think everyone who watched your performance felt happy," predicting his future as a star who brings joy to all. The final result was 106 to 94, with Kim Junsu emerging victorious.
