Oh Jung-se's powerful performance is drawing significant attention.
The Disney+ original series 'Tempest,' which premiered on the 10th, is written by Jung Seo-kyung and directed by Kim Hee-won and Huh Myung-haeng. It follows 'Moon Ju' (played by Jun Ji-hyun), a UN ambassador with international acclaim, as she investigates the forces behind a presidential candidate's assassination attempt. Alongside her is 'San-ho' (played by Kang Dong-won), a special agent with no nationality, as they confront a massive truth threatening the Korean Peninsula.
In the early episodes of 'Tempest,' Oh Jung-se's intense performance has captivated viewers. He plays 'Jun-sang,' a prosecutor consumed by inferiority towards his brother 'Jun-ik' (played by Park Hae-joon). From the first episode, he piqued curiosity about his character, enhancing the show's focus.
Following Jun-ik's shooting incident, Jun-sang continues a subtle rivalry with Moon Ju over the presidential race. He kidnaps Moon Ju's secretary 'Mi-ji' (played by Lee Sang-hee) and engages in a tense one-on-one confrontation with Moon Ju. His piercing gaze and flawless dialogue delivery captivate viewers, while his fleeting moments of vulnerability when suspected by Moon Ju reveal Jun-sang's complex emotions, adding depth to the narrative.
Particularly, when discussing Jun-ik's secret with Moon Ju, Oh Jung-se uses variations in tone and pacing to lend credibility to Jun-sang's words. His expression also conveys the betrayal he feels towards his mother, who stands behind Moon Ju, especially when forced to choose exile in Germany due to Moon Ju's threats.
Oh Jung-se skillfully portrays Jun-sang's high inferiority and frustration, unrecognized even by his family, offering a different side from his previous role as the psychopathic villain 'Min Joo-young' in JTBC's 'Good Boy.' Anticipation builds for his future performances in the remaining episodes of 'Tempest.'
Meanwhile, Disney+ will release episodes 4 and 5 of 'Tempest' on the 17th, followed by episodes 6 and 7 on the 24th, and episodes 8 and 9 on October 1st.
