Disney+ has released a behind-the-scenes video for its original series 'Polaris,' featuring insights from the cast. Jun Ji-hyun, returning to drama after four years since the critically panned 'Jirisan,' expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with top-tier creators.
'Polaris' follows Moon-ju (played by Jun Ji-hyun), a UN ambassador who has gained international fame, as she investigates the forces behind a presidential candidate's assassination attempt. Alongside her is San-ho (played by Kang Dong-won), a mysterious special agent tasked with protecting her, as they uncover a massive truth threatening the Korean Peninsula. The video captures the passionate atmosphere on set and the cast's reflections on their experiences.
Jun Ji-hyun, who plays Moon-ju, stated, "It's an honor just to have the opportunity to participate." John Cho, portraying Anderson Miller, described it as "an unforgettable experience," while Oh Jung-se, who plays Jang Jun-sang, shared, "My goal was to work with them." Kim Hae-sook, playing South Korean President Chae Kyung-shin, said, "I felt alive again and gained something precious," and Lee Mi-sook, as Im Ok-sun, noted, "It became a milestone in my acting career," highlighting the significance of 'Polaris' for the actors.
The cast members also introduced their characters and shared their efforts to embody their roles. Jun Ji-hyun mentioned, "I tried to find answers for my character through the writer's script," aiming to portray Moon-ju's complex emotions entangled in the presidential candidate's assassination plot. Kang Dong-won described San-ho as "a character who helps Moon-ju when she is in danger," building anticipation for his role as her protector. The chemistry between Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won on set raises curiosity about their dynamic in the espionage romance genre. Lee Sang-hee, playing Yeo Mi-ji, said, "'Polaris' is a work that gives pride. I'm curious about how it will reach people," while Joo Jong-hyuk, as Park Chang-hee, remarked, "It's truly a super team. We started with great energy on set," reflecting the passionate and harmonious atmosphere during filming.
'Polaris' will be available exclusively on Disney+ with three episodes premiering on September 10, followed by two episodes each week starting September 17, totaling nine episodes.
