Director of 'Tempest' reveals that set ceilings were raised to accommodate the tall stature of stars Jun Ji-hyun (173cm) and Kang Dong-won (186cm).
On the 2, a press conference for the Disney+ original series 'Tempest' was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul. Attendees included directors Kim Hee-won and Heo Myeong-haeng, along with cast members Jun Ji-hyun, Kang Dong-won, Lee Mi-sook, Park Hae-joon, Kim Hae-sook, Yoo Jae-myung, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-hee, and Joo Jong-hyuk.
'Tempest' follows the story of Seo Mun-joo, a former UN ambassador who gains international fame, as she investigates the assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. She is joined by Baek San-ho, a mysterious special agent tasked with protecting her, as they uncover a massive truth threatening the Korean Peninsula.
Jun Ji-hyun plays Seo Mun-joo, who decides to run for election to uncover the truth behind the attack on her husband, a leading presidential candidate. Kang Dong-won portrays Baek San-ho, the enigmatic special agent who becomes her bodyguard.
Director Heo Myeong-haeng commented, “I've worked with Kang Dong-won on many projects. As everyone knows, his physicality is exceptional. Even with the same actions, he brings a unique 'coolness' that other actors can't match. You'll see what I mean.”
Director Kim Hee-won, who captured the chemistry between Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I was happy every day. I love beautiful visuals, and I didn't have to try hard to achieve them. This project needed to be both strong and beautiful, and it came together naturally.” He also shared a behind-the-scenes tidbit, adding, “Both actors are so tall that the ceilings looked low, so we raised them a bit,” eliciting laughter.
'Tempest' will premiere on Disney+ on the 10.
