K-Pop Star Kim Gun-mo Returns to Stage After Six-Year Hiatus

K-pop singer Kim Gun-mo is set to make his long-awaited return to the stage after a six-year hiatus.

Production company iStar Media Company announced on the 26th that Kim Gun-mo will kick off his nationwide tour, 'KIM GUN MO.', starting with a performance at the Busan KBS Hall on September 27. The tour will continue in Daegu, Daejeon, and conclude in Seoul.

This marks Kim Gun-mo's first public appearance since he halted all activities in 2019 due to sexual assault allegations. He was cleared of these charges in 2021 when the prosecution decided not to indict him.

Kim Gun-mo, who rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like 'Excuse' and 'Wrongful Encounter,' was also known for his charismatic stage presence and variety show appearances. The production company stated, "Although he has been away from the public eye for a long time, his passion for music never waned," highlighting the significance of his return.

The tour will begin in Busan, followed by performances in Daegu on October 18, Daejeon on December 20, and will wrap up in Seoul in January next year. Detailed schedules and additional information will be released later.

In 2019, Kim Gun-mo faced allegations of sexual assault, which led to the suspension of all his broadcast activities. The YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute claimed that Kim had assaulted a woman, identified as A, at an entertainment venue, prompting police and prosecution investigations. Kim consistently denied the allegations, and in November 2021, the prosecution ruled 'no charges.' Subsequent appeals and requests for reconsideration were also dismissed, concluding the legal disputes.

Kim Gun-mo's personal life also saw significant changes. He married pianist Jang Ji-yeon, who is 13 years his junior, in 2019, but news of their divorce surfaced after approximately two years and eight months. Since then, Kim has not made any public appearances.
