On the 26th, Do Kyung-wan stated, "Our relationship might appear unbalanced to some, but we live with mutual respect and support." He continued, "I received an apology text from Kim Jin-woong. Although this incident has hurt our family and those who care for us, I hope no one else gets hurt because of it."
The controversy began on the KBS 2TV variety show 'The Boss Has Donkey Ears' aired on the 24th, where Kim Jin-woong, during a marriage counseling segment, mentioned Do Kyung-wan as an example of a well-married announcer. Kim remarked, "I can't live like senior Do Kyung-wan. It might be disrespectful, but I can't live as someone's 'sub'."
While some interpreted Kim's comments as an attempt to entertain, many criticized the inappropriate nature of the 'sub' remark, which was deemed offensive.
Jang Yoon-jung, Do Kyung-wan's wife, publicly expressed her discomfort by sharing the article on her social media, stating, "Even without personal acquaintance, such remarks aren't jokes if they don't make the other person laugh. There's no 'sub' in a family."
Jang Yoon-jung later confirmed receiving a direct apology, stating, "I received a text from an unknown number, and after verifying, it was an apology." She added, "If an apology is offered, it should be accepted," indicating her acceptance of Kim's apology.
