Lim Yoon-a has captivated King Lee Chae-min.
In the second episode of tvN's weekend drama 'The Tyrant's Chef' (directed by Jang Tae-yoo, written by fGRD, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Filmgrid and Jung Universe), which aired on the 24th, Yeon Ji-young (played by Lim Yoon-a) was taken to the palace after winning over the taste buds of the tyrant Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae-min) with her culinary masterpiece, hinting at challenging days ahead.
The episode's viewership ratings soared, recording an average of 6.5% and a peak of 8.7% in the metropolitan area, and an average of 6.6% and a peak of 8.6% nationwide, securing the top spot among cable and general programming channels in the same time slot. The drama also ranked first in the 2049 male and female target demographic nationwide, including terrestrial channels, and first in the metropolitan area among cable and general programming channels, according to Nielsen Korea.
Yeon Ji-young, captured by the royal guards and taken to the provincial office, began preparing a grand feast for the emissary Im Song-jae (played by Oh Eui-sik) and his son. Despite the lack of suitable ingredients and the toughness of the meat, Yeon Ji-young recalled the sous-vide technique to tenderize the meat.
Yeon Ji-young passionately tested the water temperature with her hands to cook the meat perfectly. Following her instructions, the cooks prepared a marinade using ingredients from various regions, resulting in a beautifully cooked sous-vide steak.
However, Im Song-jae criticized the dish even before tasting it, angering Yeon Ji-young. Their true intention was to take the governor's granddaughter to the palace, putting both her and Yeon Ji-young in danger.
The situation took a dramatic turn when Lee Heon appeared at the provincial office, expressing his desire to taste Yeon Ji-young's dish. Confident that Lee Heon, with his discerning palate, would appreciate her intentions, Yeon Ji-young presented the sous-vide steak.
As expected, Lee Heon recognized the hidden flavors in the dish and praised it as "the best in the world," surprising everyone by ordering Yeon Ji-young to be brought to the palace. While Yeon Ji-young was in shock at the sudden turn of events, Im Song-jae's mysterious smile hinted at a new scheme.
Yeon Ji-young's presence in the palace, brought in chains for the crime of pleasing the king's palate, stirred up new tensions. Concubine Kang Mok-joo (played by Kang Han-na), favored by the king, cast a menacing gaze at Yeon Ji-young, heightening the tension.
To make matters worse, Lee Heon ominously remarked, "When the time comes, you'll beg for your life," leaving Yeon Ji-young trembling. The unpredictable actions of the tyrant Lee Heon have captured viewers' attention, as they eagerly await his next move.
The third episode of tvN's 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty' will air on the 30th at 9:10 PM.
