Gong Myung has expressed his admiration for the film 'A History of Confession,' describing it as a fresh and lovely piece.
On the 25th, a production briefing for the Netflix film 'A History of Confession' was held at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-dong, Seoul. The event was attended by director Namgung Sun and actors Gong Myung, Shin Eun-soo, Cha Woo-min, and Yoon Sang-hyun.
Set in 1998, 'A History of Confession' is a coming-of-age romance that follows 19-year-old Park Se-ri as she plans a strategy to straighten her lifelong complex of having curly hair, all while getting entangled with a transfer student, Han Yoon-seok.
Gong Myung plays Han Yoon-seok, a transfer student from Seoul to Busan with a mysterious past. Despite being 31 years old in real life, Gong Myung takes on the role of a high school student in this film.
He shared, “When I first received the script, like all the other actors, I felt it was a fresh, cute, and lovely piece. It was a genre I wanted to see as a viewer, which made me want to participate even more.” Describing his character, Han Yoon-seok, he said, “He transferred from Seoul to Busan and is a year older than the other students. He has a hidden story and possesses a sensitive and emotional side.”
Director Namgung Sun commented on Gong Myung, saying, “Isn't he just adorable?” She added, “Our film has a healthy and clear image, so I hoped all participating actors would have that image. Gong Myung has a bright and upright image, but I also saw a slightly indifferent side. Yoon-seok is weary and grumbles at times. I thought it would be good to capture that feeling. He looks like a big gummy bear, but if we could highlight his slight indifference, it would be great. Seeing him transform into a delicate boy in the film was reassuring.” Gong Myung added, “I think I can showcase the freshness, loveliness, and youthful image that I can offer.”
'A History of Confession' will be available on Netflix starting the 29th.
