Cha Woo-min Reveals He Was a Real-Life Heartthrob During School Days

Cha Woo-min, star of 'Love Untangled,' shares he was indeed a popular guy during his school days.

On the 25th, a press conference for the Netflix film 'Love Untangled' was held at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-dong, Seoul. Director Namgung Sun and actors Gong Myung, Shin Eun-soo, Cha Woo-min, and Yoon Sang-hyun were in attendance.

'Love Untangled' is a coming-of-age romance set in 1998, where 19-year-old Park Se-ri plans an operation to straighten her lifelong complex of curly hair before making a life-changing confession, only to get entangled with a transfer student, Han Yoon-seok.

Cha Woo-min plays Kim Hyun, the undisputed popular guy at school. He commented, “The setting in Busan was impressive, and it was a calm script among the ones I recently received, which I liked.”

When asked about being cast as the most popular guy in school, Cha Woo-min sighed with embarrassment, bringing laughter. He added, “I was grateful but also worried if I could portray the popular guy image well. I tried my best and took care of myself diligently.” He further explained, “We filmed on location in Busan, and I ran every day, used a face mask the night before filming, and made sure to get enough sleep.” Cha Woo-min also mentioned he had a shirtless scene.

Director Namgung Sun noted, “He was burdened by the role of the popular guy, but it turns out he was a heartthrob during his school days. He played the role with dedication.” Gong Myung added, “He showed us letters he received during school, proving he was really popular.” Director Namgung Sun also mentioned, “There was even a poem dedicated to 'the most handsome Kim Min-woo' (Cha Woo-min's real name).”

'Love Untangled' will be available on Netflix on the 29th.
