The weekend drama 'Splendid Days' on KBS 2TV has taken a dramatic turn with the sudden cancellation of a wedding, leading to an intense father-son conflict and the beginning of a love triangle.
In the sixth episode aired on the 24th, viewers witnessed the escalating tension between Lee Sang-chul (played by Chun Ho-jin) and Lee Ji-hyuk (played by Jung Il-woo) as the truth behind the wedding was revealed. The episode achieved a record-breaking viewership rating of 15.6% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea, marking the highest rating for the series and securing the top spot in its time slot.
The episode began with the bride, Jung Bo-ah (played by Go Won-hee), disappearing suddenly, turning the wedding venue into chaos. Park Sung-jae (played by Yoon Hyun-min) quickly escorted the bewildered Ji-hyuk out, while Lee Soo-bin (played by Shin Soo-hyun) and Lee Ji-wan (played by Son Sang-yeon) managed the shocked family members.
Back home, Ji-hyuk confessed everything to Sang-chul and Kim Da-jung (played by Kim Hee-jung), revealing that the marriage was one of convenience rather than love. This revelation led to a heated confrontation, with Ji-hyuk expressing his frustration, "Don't expect me to live like you, Father. You don't understand our generation." The conflict reached a breaking point, resulting in Ji-hyuk leaving home and Sang-chul, despite his anger, shedding tears alone.
Meanwhile, Ji-hyuk's story became a topic of discussion among his peers, causing discomfort for Ji Eun-oh (played by Jung In-sun). When Sung-jae tried to explain the situation, Eun-oh coldly dismissed him, saying, "I have nothing to hear about Lee Ji-hyuk from a friend," leaving Sung-jae feeling bitter.
Ji-hyuk, having left home, began working as a laborer but collapsed from overexertion. Sung-jae found him but chose not to intervene, leaving Ji-hyuk to discover a check secretly placed in his pocket, further wounding his pride.
Later, Sung-jae was approached by Soo-bin with a request to appear on YouTube, which he initially declined. However, Soo-bin, knowing Sung-jae well, mentioned Sang-chul and Da-jung, swaying his decision. Upon learning that Ji-wan was unemployed, Sung-jae took steps to address Ji-hyuk's family issues.
Towards the end of the episode, Eun-oh, determined to move on from Ji-hyuk, asked Oh Soo-jung for a blind date. She recalled her coldness towards Sung-jae and felt a pang of regret. Meanwhile, Ji-hyuk, in the city for work, spotted Eun-oh but felt too ashamed to approach her. At a café, Sung-jae boldly asked Eun-oh, "What do you think of me, Eun-oh junior?" thus setting the stage for a love triangle.
