AB6IX, the popular K-pop group, has released their 10th EP 'UPSIDE DOWN' today, October 25th. Members Lee Daehwi and Park Woojin, who gained massive popularity as part of the project group Wanna One before its disbandment in January 2019, continue to make waves in the music industry with AB6IX.
The new EP 'UPSIDE DOWN' by AB6IX (Jeon Woong, Kim Donghyun, Park Woojin, Lee Daehwi) showcases their determination to break away from conventional frames and present the world with their unique perspective and music.
The title track 'STUPID' is a pop dance song with an upbeat rock sound that expresses inner cries emerging from neglected wounds. Lee Daehwi contributed to the songwriting and composition, while Park Woojin participated in the lyrics, enhancing the track's quality.
The EP includes a total of six tracks, featuring a variety of genres such as hip-hop, rock, pop, and fan songs. Tracks like 'Square Up', 'Friday Trouble', 'A Million Dreams', 'You Are in My Plan', and the CD-only track 'Beautiful' are packed with diverse sounds.
Celebrating their 6th anniversary, AB6IX returns as more mature and solid 'artists'. In a Q&A session, they shared insights about their latest album 'UPSIDE DOWN'.
Q. How do you feel about your comeback?
Jeon Woong: It's hard to believe it's already our 10th EP. We'll show you a more grown-up AB6IX!
Kim Donghyun: It's been a while since our last comeback, so I'm a bit nervous but excited to present great performances and songs to our fans!
Park Woojin: Thank you to our fans for waiting. We'll show you our best.
Lee Daehwi: Finally, we're back. We planned to return sooner, but we waited for better songs. I'm grateful and excited to meet our fans again.
Q. What is the title track 'STUPID' about?
Lee Daehwi: It's a dance track with a band sound that fits a fresh summer night. The relatable lyrics are meant to comfort listeners.
Q. What should we look for in the 'STUPID' performance?
Park Woojin: The performance is designed for everyone to enjoy comfortably and energetically. You'll see various sides and charms of the members!
Q. 'STUPID' conveys empathy and comfort to those who are hurt. Do you have any tips for overcoming wounds?
Kim Donghyun: If I'm wrong, I admit it and move on. If it's unfair, I address it and overcome it.
Q. The members participated in songwriting and composing, enhancing the album's quality. What was the focus during production?
Jeon Woong: Since 'STUPID' is a refreshing and exciting song, we focused on making the choreography lively and fun!
Kim Donghyun: We recorded each song with more affection than ever and prepared for the stage.
Park Woojin: We always do our best for our listeners, expressing our emotions more sensitively.
Lee Daehwi: Music was the main focus. Everything starts with good music, and I'm confident in the diverse charms of these tracks.
Q. Is there a particular song from 'UPSIDE DOWN' that you are attached to?
Jeon Woong: 'You Are in My Plan', which I wrote and composed. I felt proud after finishing it. Please give it lots of love.
Lee Daehwi: Besides the title track, 'Beautiful' is a song that will remain in our memories with our fans. I hope it reminds us of this activity in the future.
Q. After active solo activities, you're back as a group after about 10 months. Any memorable moments during album preparation?
Kim Donghyun: The music video shoot was different and fun with new methods.
Park Woojin: There were no major episodes, but it felt familiar and comfortable, flowing naturally.
Q. What do you want to show through this album?
Jeon Woong: We've done various concepts, but I want people to say, "AB6IX is refreshing" and enjoy the stage.
Q. Any message for your fans (ABNEW)?
Jeon Woong: ABNEW! We're finally back. We've returned with an album full of six tracks for you! Enjoy 'UPSIDE DOWN' and have a cool summer! Thank you and love you.
