On the October 16th episode of KBS2TV's 'Immortal Songs', a special titled '80 Years of Liberation, Legendary Songs' featured the appearance of Bae Il-ho.
The episode, celebrating '80 Years of Liberation, Legendary Songs', showcased performances by Hyun Sook, Bae Il-ho, Seol Woon-do, Kim Bum-ryong, Kim Yong-im, and Jin Sung. Bae Il-ho's appearance was particularly noteworthy. He shared, "I became a singer after losing a bid for village chief in my hometown by three votes to Jeong-sook's father."
Bae Il-ho holds the title of 'the first KBS FD turned singer'. He revealed, "I worked as an FD for several programs including 'National Singing Contest', 'Lucky Studio', '100-Year Quiz Show', and 'My Hometown at Six'. I am the first KBS FD."
Lee Chan-won shared his connection with Bae Il-ho, saying, "When I was 10 years old in third grade, he came to my hometown Daegu to sing. He was the first celebrity I ever met." He added, "I called him 'Uncle Bae Il-ho' and he shook my hand. His fan service was unforgettable."
Kim Bum-ryong commented, "You must have received some energy back then." Seol Woon-do added, "When you sing for a long time, you can tell just by looking at someone. Maybe he saw your potential." Lee Chan-won also mentioned, "Breaking news just in, 20 KBS FDs are here to support Bae Il-ho." Bae Il-ho joked, "I should start an FD association."
Meanwhile, Kim Yong-im shared, "I debuted in 1984 under my real name Kim Yong-im. I used the name Kim Min-kyung, given by a monk, for night stages." She continued, "Seol Woon-do introduced me to composer Gil Ok-im, who gave me the name Myung-joo, and composer Ahn Chi-haeng gave me the name Kim Mi-ran."
Kim Yong-im concluded, "When I returned to singing, I was told to change my name. I refused, saying I would sing under my real name, Kim Yong-im, and in 2000, I started gaining popularity under my real name."
