The issue arose during the DAY6 fan meeting held from October 18 to 20 in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Reports surfaced on online communities claiming that attendees were asked to provide not only their own identification but also their parents' IDs, family relationship certificates, or school records for entry verification. These demands for excessive personal information led to complaints from fans, with some stating they were denied entry for failing to present the required documents.
On October 21, JYP released an official apology, acknowledging the controversy. The company stated, "We sincerely apologize to the attendees who experienced inconvenience and distress due to the identity verification process at the event."
JYP admitted that during the process of outsourcing entry management to an external operator, unnecessary personal information was requested, and sensitive data was collected and shared under the guise of document verification.
The company explained that the measures were intended to prevent illegal ticket transfers but admitted to a lack of flexible response and responsible management on-site. JYP promised to thoroughly review and improve their internal systems to prevent any invasion of privacy or unfair data collection in the future.
Additionally, JYP committed to providing full refunds to those who were unable to attend the event due to entry restrictions, with detailed compensation procedures to be announced later.
The statement concluded with a heartfelt apology, "We sincerely apologize for the distress caused to our audience. We will do our utmost to ensure that the remaining fan meetings can be enjoyed without any inconvenience."
