The controversy began with her 'no homework request' policy, which has led to discussions about kindergarten education methods.
In March, Sayuri appeared on Jang Young-ran's YouTube channel, where she discussed her son Zen's language education. She expressed concern, saying, "In Korea, there's a strong emphasis on language studies. I want my child to be proficient in Korean. At home, we speak Japanese, and outside, it's only English, which might weaken his Korean skills."
Sayuri further revealed that she wrote a letter to Zen's English kindergarten, stating, "I am proud of my son for not doing homework, so please do not send any." She was worried that forcing homework might diminish his interest in languages.
Some netizens argue, "If that's the case, homeschooling might be better," "Every child is special, not just hers," and "There seems to be an issue of fairness."
Conversely, others support her, saying, "She pays for it, so she can make demands," and "It seems like a child-centered education with conviction."
Many believe that if Sayuri's approach genuinely enhances her child's interest in languages, it deserves respect.
Recently, Sayuri appeared on the YouTube channel 'Gangnami' and revealed, "My son Zen left play school after just 10 days," adding, "He is strong-willed and does what he wants, which the teachers found challenging."
