aespa's Karina has issued an apology following a political controversy.
On the 6th, the YouTube channel 'Fairy Jae-hyung' released a video titled 'Finally Here. The Youngest Guest, Karina..!'.
In the video, when asked about her dream, Karina responded, "To live a peaceful life." She added, "There have been some issues recently, and I hope not only for myself but also for those around me to live peacefully."
She continued, "I had no such intention. I felt sorry because my fans were so worried. I wanted to apologize for causing concern to many people."
Karina explained, "I went out with the staff, bought a coat in the chilly weather, and posted it to communicate with fans, but then I received a message and deleted it." She added, "I was very ignorant. Even if I'm overseas, it's something I should know. I realized I need to be more aware and study more. I admit I was very ignorant."
Karina also mentioned, "I started the conversation, so I have to take responsibility, but it was hard because the other members were affected too."
Previously, on May 28th, Karina posted a photo on social media wearing a red outfit with the number '2', which sparked political controversy. Following the backlash, Karina deleted the post and apologized through a fan communication platform, stating there was no political intent and promising to be more cautious in the future.
SM Entertainment, her agency, stated, "We apologize for the concern caused by our artist Karina's post. Karina posted it as part of her daily life without any other purpose or intent. Once she realized it could be misunderstood, she immediately deleted it. We sincerely apologize for any unintended concern."
