Chae Yeon candidly shared the reasons behind her decision not to release a new album.
On her YouTube channel '2005 Chae Yeon', a video titled 'Why I, Once a Popular Star, Haven't Released More Albums... Let's Be Honest' was uploaded.
In the video, the production team asked Chae Yeon, "Why do singers stop releasing albums over time?" Chae Yeon responded, "That's a profound question," adding, "Even I find myself not releasing albums." Previously, Chae Yeon showcased her vocal talent on her YouTube channel by singing her 2005 hit song 'Two of Us' and covering Japanese city pop songs.
Chae Yeon admitted, "I've tried many concepts over the years, so there's pressure to show something new," and expressed her concerns, "I wonder if the public will love me more, and there's this anxiety."
She further explained, "Practicing a song takes one to three months, and then there's the cost of shooting a music video, stage outfits, and everything else—it all costs money."
Chae Yeon continued, "If it becomes a hit right away and everyone loves it, that's great. But if I release an album now and people say, 'Chae Yeon released an album? When?' and I've invested 300 million won, that money is gone," explaining why it's not an easy decision.
When asked if she has any album plans, Chae Yeon said, "I'm constantly thinking about albums," and expressed her desire to release one.
