On the October 1st episode of tvN STORY's 'Accidental Adult' 10th-anniversary special, Kim Chang-wan opened up about his challenges with alcohol after hearing a story about someone else's struggles with drinking.
He cautiously admitted, "I should have put the glass down when I was moderately drunk, but I couldn't." Comedian Hwang Je-seong added, "Rumor has it that no one leaves your house sober after drinking there," drawing attention. Kim Chang-wan sheepishly smiled and confessed, "I used to be a serious alcoholic."
Reflecting on his past, he shared that quitting alcohol wasn't easy, saying, "It was difficult to stop all at once, so I chose a gradual approach. Little by little, I reduced the amount I drank each day." He emphasized the importance of 'support from those around you,' expressing deep gratitude towards his wife.
Kim Chang-wan noted, "My wife can't drink a drop of alcohol," and added, "Yet, she never blamed me for drinking. Instead, she encouraged me to exercise or suggested other hobbies." He humorously remarked, "It's better to be addicted to love, but not quitting that is the problem."
Meanwhile, Kim Chang-wan is married to a fellow Seoul National University medical school alum and has one son.
