Rising K-pop group Baby DONT Cry has officially entered the music scene with aspirations of winning the Newcomer Award this year.
The group, consisting of members Lee Hyun, Kumi, Mia, and Benny, held a media showcase at the Blue Square SOL Travel Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the 23rd to celebrate the release of their debut single 'F Girl'.
Expressing her excitement about the debut, Benny shared, "I'm so happy and thrilled. The debut process wasn't easy, and at times it felt challenging. It feels like a dream to meet such amazing senior artists, and I'm grateful to everyone who has supported us."
Lee Hyun added, "When the debut was confirmed, it didn't feel real. But as the day approached, it started to sink in, and now I'm feeling more nervous."
Regarding their unique group name, Lee Hyun explained, "The 'Baby' in our name doesn't just mean cute or fragile. It represents a pure strength that can stand up to the world. It signifies being confident and pure without the prejudice of needing protection."
On working with (G)I-DLE's Jeon Soyeon as their producer, Benny expressed, "It was such an honor. I've always admired (G)I-DLE's performances, and when I heard she would be producing our debut album, I couldn't believe it. She's a senior with so much to learn from, and it was a great experience."
Lee Hyun continued, "Even though we're debuting today, I remember meeting PD Jeon Soyeon when I was a trainee. She still had a cute side, but she advised us to be more powerful. She seems stronger now, and though we still have a youthful vibe, we aim to become stronger after our debut."
Mia shared her experience, "I was really nervous during recording, which affected my energy. But she helped with mental care and gave precise directions, making it easy to adapt and feel comfortable."
Lee Hyun added, "When we first heard PD Jeon Soyeon's song, it felt so fresh and new that we screamed with excitement. The thrill is still there."
When asked about advice from their agency head Psy, Mia said, "Psy told us to genuinely enjoy the stage. He said our energy should empower the audience. While it's hard to match his level, we'll work hard to bring our own energy."
Benny added, "Psy is a master of the stage. He advised us to enjoy the stage without regrets and constantly supported us during practice."
Lee Hyun stated, "Our main goal is to win the 'Newcomer Award'. It's an award you can only receive once after debuting, so we really want to achieve it this year. We want to become a beloved and charming group."
Benny concluded, "Each of us has unique charms and personalities. We hope that by becoming fans, people can find healing through us and remember us as a healing idol group."
