Singer and actor Taecyeon is delivering a captivating performance.
In the KBS 2TV Wednesday-Thursday drama 'The First Night With the Duke' (directed by Lee Woong-hee, Kang Soo-yeon; written by Jeon Sun-young; produced by StudioN, Monster Union), Taecyeon is capturing hearts with his irreplaceable presence, from intense action scenes to heart-pounding romance.
In the drama, Taecyeon plays the role of Lee Beon, a character known as the 'Royal Hunting Dog,' who wields his power with charisma, leaving a strong impression from the start. Taecyeon's dynamic movements, weighty tone, and deep gaze bring the character to life, creating a perfect male lead that seems to have stepped out of a novel.
Taecyeon's portrayal of Lee Beon truly shines when he falls in love. His bulldozer-like approach to love, as he does whatever it takes to marry Cha Seon-chek (played by Seo-hyun), who took his first night, is depicted with spectacular intensity.
Despite Cha Seon-chek's strong defenses, Lee Beon's unwavering determination and unique madness, as well as his willingness to face tigers and enter plague-stricken villages to save her, are portrayed with powerful sincerity.
Moreover, Lee Beon's hidden wounds, which he has carried since childhood, evoke sympathy from viewers. His restrained expressions reveal the loneliness of a man who had to stain his hands with blood to survive.
As Cha Seon-chek recognizes Lee Beon's true feelings, their love is expected to grow even more intense. Taecyeon delicately portrays Lee Beon's tenderness as he holds the ailing Cha Seon-chek, sharing warmth.
Taecyeon's multifaceted portrayal of the character, oscillating between a cold-hearted man hiding his pain and a devoted lover, enriches the narrative and captivates audiences.
Catch 'The First Night With the Duke' every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 PM on KBS 2TV.
