Lee Byung-hun expressed his deep connection to the 'Squid Game' series.
On the 9th, a press conference for Netflix's original series 'Squid Game 3' was held at Seoul Dragon City in Cheongpa-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Hwang Dong-hyuk and actors Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-shim, Jo Yu-ri, Chae Gook-hee, Lee David, and Noh Jae-won.
'Squid Game 3' follows the story of Gi-hun, who re-enters the game with his own agenda and loses his closest friend, the Front Man who infiltrated the game while hiding his identity, and the final fate of the survivors in the brutal game. Following the release of Season 1 in September 2021 and Season 2 in December 2024, the series reaches its conclusion with Season 3.
Lee Byung-hun plays the role of the Front Man, the mastermind who disguised himself as Young-il to participate in the game. He explained, "I once again devise a plan to destroy everything Gi-hun believes in. If Seasons 2 and 3 are one story, then Season 3 is the final climax and conclusion. Dramatically, it will be intense. It's the full-fledged confrontation story between the Front Man and Gi-hun."
The globally successful 'Squid Game' has left a lasting impression on Lee Byung-hun. He shared, "I always feel a mix of emotions when a project ends, but this time, there was something new. During the Season 2 promotions, despite having several Hollywood film experiences, I felt an overwhelming support and welcome that I hadn't experienced before. It was refreshing to receive such a warm reception for our content." He added, "There are still several promotions abroad for Season 3. Even after a long career as an actor, it has given me an exciting and happy experience I hadn't encountered before. I always think about the unique and significant meaning this project holds for me."
'Squid Game 3' will be available on Netflix on the 27th.
