Actor Ryeoun revealed that he gained 10kg to portray a robust character in 'Weak Hero Class 2'.
Recently, Ryeoun, who stars in the Netflix series 'Weak Hero Class 2', was interviewed at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Seoul.
'Weak Hero Class 2' follows the story of Yeon Si-eun, played by Park Ji-hoon, a model student who transfers to Eunjang High School carrying the trauma of failing to protect his friend from violence. Determined not to lose another friend, he faces even greater violence. Ryeoun plays Park Hoo-min, also known as 'Baku', the justice-driven leader of Eunjang High School.
To embody the muscular physique of Park Hoo-min, Ryeoun gained 10kg. He stated, "I wanted to do it, and the director also suggested it. Since the character is a 'power type', it wouldn't suit a skinny body to break things and appear strong, so we decided to bulk up."
Ryeoun's method for gaining weight was 'eating well while exercising'. He shared, "I love eating. Usually, I have to manage my diet, so I eat chicken breast while working out. But this time, I was happy to eat whatever I wanted while exercising. For about two months, I ate a lot and worked out." He added, "While gaining 10kg, I ate a lot of mala xiang guo, about three to four times a week. I also ate a lot of meat, including pork belly and chicken." He smiled, saying, "Those were happy days."
Currently, Ryeoun has lost the weight again, stating, "Gaining weight is easier for me than losing it. Now, I've lost over 10kg again by not eating."
