tvN's 'Resident Playbook' Soars in Popularity, Dominates TV-OTT Drama Rankings

tvN's 'Resident Playbook' is experiencing a remarkable surge in popularity. Previously, tvN's 'Ask the Stars,' which had a production budget of 50 billion won, concluded with a disappointing 2.6% viewership rating amidst criticism. Following that, 'Potato Research Institute' and 'Divorce Insurance' also recorded low ratings in the 1% range.

The weekend drama 'Resident Playbook' (Creators: Shin Won-ho, Lee Woo-jung / Director: Lee Min-soo / Writer: Kim Song-hee / Planning: CJ ENM Studios / Production: Egg is Coming) has released behind-the-scenes photos and MZ posters featuring the cast.

The lively smiles of first-year residents Go Yoon-jung (as Oh Yi-young), Shin Si-a (as Pyo Nam-kyung), Kang Yoo-seok (as Um Jae-il), and Han Ye-ji (as Kim Sa-bi) suggest a cheerful atmosphere on set. They are seen sitting together, striking a V pose.

Jung Joon-won, who plays the role of fourth-year resident Koo Do-won, exudes a dependable senior vibe as he discusses hand positions and movements with enthusiasm before filming. Go Yoon-jung is also seen engaging with the production team, discussing the script with a bright expression.

The episodes featuring patients who aid the residents' growth leave a touching impression. In episode 8, Park Sung-yeon, who played Pyo Nam-kyung's mother, showcased a moving maternal bond, sharing a heart gesture with Shin Si-a, enhancing the mother-daughter chemistry.

Additionally, commemorative photos with surprise guests add intrigue. Ahn Eun-jin, who played Choo Min-ha, a mentor to Oh Yi-young, and Yoo Yeon-seok, who portrayed Ahn Jung-won, a guardian angel to young patients, display chemistry with Go Yoon-jung and Jung Joon-won.

Kim Joon-han as Ahn Chi-hong and Kwak Sun-young as Lee Ik-soon, who created special moments in the ER with interns and residents, are seen making new memories with Shin Si-a and Cha Kang-yoon (as Tak Ki-on). The playful smiles of Kang Yoo-seok and Shin Hyun-bin (as Jang Gyeo-ul), who share a first love teacher-student dynamic, also catch the eye. The expanded Yulje universe, enriched by surprise guests, leaves viewers curious about future appearances.

Additionally, in the cast buzz category, Go Yoon-jung and Jung Joon-won have maintained the first and second positions for three weeks in a row.
