Actor Choo Young-woo has been honored with the Best New Actor award.
On May 5th, Choo Young-woo received the Best New Actor award in the television category at the '61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci' held at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, for his performance in JTBC's 'The Tale of Mrs. Ok'.
Upon receiving the trophy, Choo expressed his gratitude, saying, "Just being here is overwhelming and an honor, and I am thankful to receive this award. It feels like a gift from the director, writer, and fellow actors, rather than something I achieved on my own," he said with a trembling voice.
Choo Young-woo further shared, "My acting teacher once told me, 'Be someone who wears out rather than rusts away.' I will work even harder until the day I wake up and go to the set as an actor."
Previously, there was some controversy when Lim Ji-yeon, who starred alongside Choo in 'The Tale of Mrs. Ok', was not nominated for the Best Actress award despite her leading role. The nominees for Best Actress in the television category included Go Min-si ('In the Forest Where No One Exists'), Kim Tae-ri ('Jeong Nyeon'), Kim Hye-yoon ('Run Away with Seon-jae'), IU ('You Have Done Well'), and Jang Na-ra ('Good Partner').
However, at the Baeksang Awards, Lim Ji-yeon warmly applauded and smiled at Choo Young-woo's win, creating a heartwarming moment.
Meanwhile, Choo Young-woo is set to appear in the Netflix series 'Square' and tvN's 'Gyeonwoo and Seonnyeo' this year.
