Actor Lee Joon is set to make his debut on the musical stage.
The musical 'Even If This Love Disappears Tonight' (produced by Library Company and Universal Live, based on the original work by Misaki Ichijo, adapted by Hwang Jung-eun, lyrics by Hwang Jung-eun and Lee Sang-hoon, composed by Lee Sang-hoon, directed by Lee Dae-woong) tells the story of 'Kamiya Toru', a warm-hearted but emotionally reserved character, who meets 'Hino Maori', a girl suffering from anterograde amnesia due to an accident, and builds a heartfelt connection.
The original novel of 'Even If This Love Disappears Tonight' became a bestseller in South Korea, selling over 100,000 copies within three months of its 2021 release and topping the foreign novel sales chart. It was also adapted into a film, becoming the second highest-grossing Japanese live-action film in South Korea. With such a strong fan base, the world premiere of this original musical has garnered significant attention, especially with the confirmed casting of versatile entertainer Lee Joon.
In the musical, Lee Joon will portray 'Toru', who wishes to create special memories for 'Maori'. He is expected to deliver a nuanced performance, capturing Toru's youthful emotions and tender romance with a wide range of emotions and a deep voice. Lee Joon's stable singing ability is also anticipated to captivate audiences.
Lee Joon has previously been recognized for his acting prowess, winning the 'Excellence Award' at the SBS Drama Awards in 2023 for 'The Escape of the Seven' and the 'Excellence Award in the Miniseries Category' at the KBS Drama Awards in 2022 for 'Bloody Heart'. As he expands his repertoire with this new role, all eyes are on how he will perform on the musical stage.
Meanwhile, 'Even If This Love Disappears Tonight' will be performed at the COEX Shinhan Card Artium from June 13 to August 24.
