Teen Top's Niel, who is making a comeback as a solo artist, revealed that he once considered retiring from his music career.
Niel held a press interview on the 18th at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul, to celebrate the release of his fourth mini-album 'SHE'.
During the interview, Niel confessed that despite being only 30 years old, he had thought about quitting his career as a singer. He shared, "Around 2019 to 2020, I experienced burnout. I often thought about letting go." He added, "It was a tough time. I had too many thoughts. I don't go out much, and spending a lot of time at home made it harder."
What brought him back to music were his fans. Niel expressed his gratitude, saying, "Fans encouraged me a lot, saying they wanted to see me perform again, which made me decide to return to the stage." He continued, "I've overcome a lot now and am trying to be happy. I find happiness in small things. I have a cat, and I start my day thinking, 'I have a cat when I wake up, I'm happy,' and 'I can buy treats for this friend,' which makes me happy."
Niel also sent a message of encouragement to himself for overcoming difficult times. He stated, "When I wanted to give up, I really thought about quitting this life. But because I endured that moment well, I can now release a new album and take on new challenges. I want to tell my past self, 'You did well to endure.'"
'SHE' is Niel's first mini-album in about two and a half years. The title track 'SHE' features a groovy rhythm and soulful guitar, with Niel's deep vocals flowing freely with the emotions. The melody, which alternates between restrained and explosive expressions, adds to the poignant atmosphere.
The new album includes a total of six tracks: the title track 'SHE', 'Sapé', 'The Meaning Within Love', 'If you're the ocean', 'What's the Excuse for Love?', and 'SHE (Inst.)'.
Niel's fourth mini-album 'SHE' and its music video will be released on the 22nd at 6 PM.
